The Programme

A Connected Ecosystem
Built for Accountability

Cities around the world are generating waste faster than the systems built to manage it can keep pace. Accountability across the waste chain remains fragmented, highlighting the need for stronger coordination, shared responsibility, and better support across the entire waste management ecosystem.

Our city, like the best cities in the world, is choosing to act — and to act now.

"We believe the answer lies in a connected ecosystem — where every stakeholder has a defined role, every action has a record, and progress is something the entire city can see and trust."

This is the system our city is building — through meaningful partnerships and technology that makes accountability possible at scale.

Stakeholder Roles
  • 👤

    Citizens

When a citizen segregates waste, that action is recognised, recorded, and rewarded — building a permanent personal impact footprint over a lifetime.

  • 🏭

    Brands

When a brand places a product into the market, it carries a stake in where that product ends up. Product take-back and EPR compliance are tracked through the platform.

  • 🏪

    Retailers

When a retailer is part of the supply chain, it is part of the recovery chain — hosting collection points that are visible, verified, and valued on the citizen app.

  • ♻️

    Recyclers & Partners

When a recycler does the work, it is visible, verified, and valued. Every tonne processed is logged within the programme's certified ecosystem.

For Citizens

Your Contribution, Recognised

Every responsible action a citizen takes is logged, verified, and rewarded — creating a permanent record of contribution that grows over a lifetime.

Benefit 01

Reward Points

Every drop-off and responsible act earns incentive points credited to your profile. Once a sufficient amount of points are collected, they can be redeemed towards social, circular, or sustainable products — in keeping with the core principle of Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.

Benefit 02

Impact Certificates

Each drop-off and milestone earns you a certificate, claimed and stored in the app. A growing record of every contribution — always yours to access, share, and present as a verifiable record of responsible citizenship.

Benefit 03

Lifetime Footprint

Every effort is logged, building a personal impact footprint that endures. See not just what you did last week — but the full measure of what you have contributed over time to Hyderabad's circular future.

Benefit 04

Real-World Impact Metrics

See the tangible real-world impact of your efforts — trees saved, landfill waste avoided, water conserved. Metrics that turn individual actions into a story the planet can tell and the city can be proud of.

Benefit 05

Disposal Knowledge Base Coming Soon

This is only the beginning. The programme will roll out a full product guide with proper disposal guidelines for over 600 household materials, interactive quizzes, and other reverse lifecycle educational material to support citizen action across every neighbourhood in Hyderabad.

ℹ️

Household & Building Participation: A single registered user can log drop-offs on behalf of their entire household. Larger residential buildings and societies can register as an organisation through the platform for consolidated tracking and reporting.

Select Category
Drop-off Points
Where is my nearest drop-off point?+
You can locate the nearest drop-off point using the QR code. Simply enable location access and all active points in your area, along with distances, accepted waste categories, and operating hours will be visible.
What types of waste can I drop off?+
Each drop-off point accepts specific categories of waste. The platform will show you exactly what is accepted at each location before you make your trip.
Do I need to segregate my waste before dropping it off?+
Yes. Every item including quantity will need to be entered to create a drop-off request. While going to a drop-off point accepting multiple categories, segregation is key.
What are the operating hours of drop-off points?+
Operating hours vary by location. You can check the hours for any specific drop-off point on the platform before heading out.
How do I know my drop-off has been recorded?+
Every drop-off is logged in real time. Once verified at the point, you will receive an instant confirmation to your email and on the ReXtract app along with your certificate.
Can I drop off waste on behalf of my household or building?+
Yes. A single registered user can log a drop-off on behalf of their household. For larger residential buildings, they can register as an organisation instead of an individual.
What if a drop-off point is full or not operational?+
The app reflects the live status of all drop-off points. If a point is full or temporarily unavailable, the app will direct you to the next nearest active location.
Is there a minimum or maximum quantity I can drop off?+
There is no minimum quantity — every contribution counts. For large volumes, some drop-off points may have specific guidelines which will be indicated on the platform.
Are drop-off points safe and hygienic?+
All drop-off points are maintained and monitored regularly. If you notice a point that needs attention, you can report it directly through the platform.
Will more drop-off points be added over time?+
Yes. The network of drop-off points will expand as the programme grows. You can track new additions in your area through the app and sign up for notifications.
Home Pickup
Does the programme offer waste pickup from my home?+
Home pickup is available exclusively for large electronics and special category waste — items that are difficult to carry or require careful handling. For all other waste, our drop-off network is conveniently located near you.
What items qualify for home pickup?+
Tires and large electronics such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and other bulky appliances qualify for scheduled home pickup. Smaller electronics and everyday waste are to be dropped off at your nearest point.
Why is pickup not available for all types of waste?+
Circularity is at the heart of this programme. Deploying vehicles and resources to collect small, easily portable waste from individual homes would contradict that principle. Drop-off points are designed to make participation easy while keeping the programme's footprint responsible.
How do I schedule a pickup for a large electronic item?+
You can request a pickup directly through the QR or app. Select the item category, choose a preferred date and time slot, and a verified collection partner will be assigned to your request.
Is there a cost for home pickup of large electronics?+
Pickup for qualifying items is offered as part of the programme. Any applicable charges, where relevant, will be clearly indicated at the time of booking.
How much notice do I need to give for a pickup?+
We recommend scheduling at least 48 hours in advance to ensure availability. The platform will show you the earliest available slot in your area.
What condition does the item need to be in for pickup?+
Items do not need to be in working condition. However, they should be accessible — placed in a reachable location within your premises for the collection team to handle safely.
Will my pickup be recorded towards my contribution footprint?+
Yes. Every verified pickup is logged to your account, earns you a certificate, and contributes to your lifetime impact footprint — just like a drop-off.
What happens to my electronics after they are picked up?+
All collected electronics are routed to certified recyclers within the programme's ecosystem. You will be able to track the journey of your item through the ReXtract app, in keeping with the programme's commitment to full transparency.
Can I request pickup for a small electronic item?+
Small electronics — phones, chargers, keyboards, and similar items — are not eligible for home pickup. These can be easily carried to your nearest drop-off point, which is the most resource-responsible way to recycle them. The platform will show you the closest point that accepts electronics.
Collection Points
What does it mean to be a collection point?+
As a registered collection point, your location becomes part of the city's official waste ecosystem — visible on the citizen app and recognised as an active programme partner.
Who can register as a collection point?+
Any brand or retailer with a physical presence in the city can apply — from single-outlet businesses to national chains. The programme is designed to be inclusive of businesses of all scales and categories.
How do we register as a collection point?+
You can apply through the programme's partner portal. Once verified, your locations are onboarded, mapped on the citizen app, and supported with the necessary programme infrastructure and guidance.
What infrastructure do we need to have in place?+
A designated space for waste deposit and basic segregation bins are the minimum requirements. The programme provides onboarding support, signage, and connects you with appointed recycling partners for regular collection from your location.
What waste categories can we register for?+
You choose the categories your location is equipped to handle at the time of onboarding. These can be updated as your capacity and participation grows.
Can a brand run a product-specific take-back initiative through this programme?+
Yes. Brands can register a take-back programme for their own products or packaging within the ecosystem — tracked, verified, and credited through the same platform. This allows brand-led initiatives to sit within a trusted, transparent system.
What does our participation look like to citizens?+
Your outlets appear on the citizen app as active collection points, showing your location, accepted waste categories, and operating hours. Every citizen who visits your outlet to drop off waste sees your brand as an active contributor to the city's circular economy.
What does the programme offer us in return?+
Participating brands and retailers receive official programme certification, visibility on the citizen-facing app, and recognition as a verified ecosystem partner. Your commitment to circularity becomes a public, credible, and trackable record — not just a claim.
How is our collection point activity tracked?+
All activity at your collection point is logged in real time through the programme platform — volumes received, waste categories, and collection frequency. This data is available to you through your partner dashboard, giving you full visibility into your contribution.
What happens if our collection point is not meeting programme standards?+
The programme conducts periodic audits of all collection points. Citizens can also flag concerns through the app, which are reviewed promptly. Maintaining the integrity of every touchpoint in the ecosystem is central to the programme's promise of transparency and accountability.
